Ensuring the security of your company’s computerized systems is not only generally a smart business practice, but an important measure to ensure your investments in technology, product innovation, and human capital stay protected. The most sophisticated cyber networks are not the only ones being targeted by cyber criminals – even the most basic industrial control system down to your everyday USB flash drive can be compromised.

If you are a specialty chemical manufacturer, you may be at an even higher risk of cyber intrusion.

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cyber Security Awareness Month will focus on a different crucial cyber issue each week in October, with week three highlighting tools and strategies that industry can use to bolster cyber security defenses.

For tips and best practices on how to increase your company’s security profile, visit DHS’s official CSAM 12 page. SOCMA members can also email to sign up for access to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) secure portal, where they can receive breaking updates related to current malware attacks and suggested mitigation strategies.
