Australia's National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (Nicnas) has published a notice of changes to its fees and charges for 2012 to 2013 which came into effect on 1 July 2012.

Changes to new chemicals' fees for the coming year include amendments to fees for new chemicals categories and associated administrative processes, replacement of variable fee rebates with set fees. The authority is also introducing a non-refundable screening fee of 15% included in the specified notification fee for all notifications, as a deposit to encourage adequate information is provided in initial applications.
The overall charging structure, of category specific new chemicals fees and a three tier registration charging arrangement, remains unchanged.
